Use of Space Hosting

After a while in use, the amount of disk space usage on your hosting account will grow after a long time and disk space quota can be filled if we frequently update the website content writing or post in your blog / web.

Please note that the quota of disk space includes the use of emails (including folders Sent and Trash), databases and of course the website files are located in the public_html folder.

Knowing the hosting space usage statistics.

Actually we can immediately see the amount of disk space used and remaining by looking at the status page on the left panel cPanel. But this status is not realtime, so had to wait several minutes for the status refresh and show the true value.

The most recommended way is to use the menu that there is Disk Space Usage in cPanel:

From here later we can see the size of each directory so that we can know where the folder that makes our hosting account management.

Examples of appearance are as follows:

Then there are lists below detail the use of disk space per folder, you can click on the folder name to find out the status of the use of disk space on the subfolders beneath it.

What happens if the hosting full?

If your hosting account is fully charged, there are some problems that may arise, among others are:

  • Can not receive / send email.
  • Can not upload data / files to your hosting account.
  • The emergence of error 500 (internal server error) on the website.

If that makes full is the directory public_html, should the files that are not used deleted to save disk space.

If you use a CMS (eg Joomla or WordPress) you should not try to delete the files default CMS unless you really know which ones can be deleted.

The files that you might delete the backup file (if any), or other files in public_html which is not inherited from the CMS you use.

If the Disk Usage summary above shows that a full-Mail directory, you can go to webmail and then delete the emails in the Trash and Sent folders.

Although previously been deleted from the Inbox, the email is still in the Trash folder is not actually completely removed thereby potentially spend quota disk space hosting.

Still full?

After you delete a file and email disk space but you are still full, you must immediately upgrade the hosting package that you're currently using in order to accommodate more files and email.
